I also have a SD preset that has my kit mixed almost perfectly before hand so I don’t need many outside plugins on my channel strips.
After the track is written and ready to be tracked, I’ll render the stems in a new project and go from there. I will have GGD open with their drums mapped to output on Channel 1. I’ll map my drums for SD all on Channel 10 which is what it defaults to anyway. The easiest way is map your GGD to mirror your SD3 kit and then I prefer to write everything with superior since the functionality is easier to use and midi grooves are so much easier to access compared to GGD. But trying to sample and then layer those bits into my SD3 kit would be way too much work and wouldn’t sound great. GGD has some of the best snares I’ve ever heard. It’s actually way easier than you’d think.
I am using a few of the samples from Impact Studios as well.
